Basketball stopover by Adrian Curry

Updated: Jun 10, 2019

After work I decided to watch some of the action over at Ohio Dominican on day 2 of this weekends odu shootout. There was some great games I was able to watch. First I watched Olmsted falls vs worthington Christian. Worthington Christian came out cold and was turning the ball over leading to points in transition and some great shots from the perimeter. I was surprised that kat weakley didn’t start the game. Towards the end of the first half, worthington Christian started to get it going but still trailed 24-5 at halftime. Then the 2nd half started and worthington Christian came out a different team and also kat Weakley started the 2nd half. They played better defense and were very aggressive in the passing lanes leading to easy baskets. Kat weakley was unstoppable in the 2nd half was making shots and being aggressive. She is one of the best under the radar underclassmen in the area. Comes from a great basketball family in the weakleys. The game came down to a last-second foul which they converted a game-winning free throw. Should be a good team next season. Also watch loudonville vs cardington where both of these teams made deep runs in the tournament last year. They also are replacing stars in Celeste Ryman and kynlee Edwards of cardington. It was a very competitive game with cardington’s size taking over in the 2nd half and then holding off a good loudonville team. Both teams should be good next season and make deep runs. The most intriguing game I saw was Lancaster vs Buckeye valley. Fast guards from Lancaster vs the size of buckeye valley. First time seeing both these teams. These two teams were evenly matched with it being a close game at the half with Lancaster leading. In the 2nd half Lancaster stretched the lead out to as much as 7 with great guard play and timely baskets. Then buckeye valley came back slowly and the game was decided on a last second shot with buckeye valley winning it on a 3-pointer with no time left. The last game I watched was Hartley vs new Albany. This game was highlighted by a lot of turnovers by Hartley which turned to easy baskets for new Albany. The game was close early on but by halftime new Albany led by 7. Guard play and aggressive defensive really helped new Albany to seize control of the game. Hartley struggles at times on offense and wasn’t really able to develop a rhythm because of all the turnovers. Hartley made it close at then end but new Albany was able to hold off Hartley. Great evening of basketball with more in store tomorrow.
