Clash at Gahanna

Clash at Gahanna

I tuned in to the Gahanna-New Albany game. Gahanna comes after an impressive win over Watterson on Tuesday night while New Albany comes in after losing to Dublin Jerome on Tuesday night. This was the defacto OCC-Ohio championship game with a win by Gahanna it would clinch the OCC-Ohio division while new Albany can even things up in the standings with a win. New Albany came into the game shorthanded missing several starters. Gahanna would come out fast in the first quarter and would lead 7-2 but New Albany came storming back and would grab a 16-14 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. The 2nd quarter saw it go back and forth with lots of turnovers on both sides. With Gahanna leading 22-21, New Albany closed the quarter on a 9-3 run fueled by Timber Wynn & Riley McNabb and led 30-25. In the 3rd quarter, the eagles were able to expand the lead to 6 but were not able to take advantage of Gahanna’s miscues allowing the lions to hang around and crawl back into the game thanks to Bella "Play Hard" Ward. The lions trailed 38-36 at the of the 3rd quarter. The 4th quarter is where Gahanna took over the game. New Albany started to turn the ball over which led to the lions finally tying the game only to have new Albany hit a three to regain the lead 41-38. From that point it was all Gahanna as they went on a 16-5 run to close it led by their young guards Laila Marshall and Aliyah Younger and closed it out at the free throw line. Gahanna won the game 54-46. With the win Gahanna improves to 10-4, 7-0 OCC-ohio while new Albany drops to 10-3, 5-2 OCC-Ohio.
