Day at odu shootout by Adrian curry

Day at odu shootout by Adrian Curry

First I want to thank Lynsey Warren and Jessie Carmack for putting a great event shootout event which the first session concluded today. I went yesterday and watched some great basketball. Local teams that participated included teays valley, Newark, Granville, upper arlington, Sheridan and Watterson . The three local teams that impressed me the most were: Newark, Sheridan and Granville. The two best games of the day were Newark vs canton glen oak and Sheridan vs glen oak. Glen oak returns most of the starters from their final four team from last season and for Sheridan to dominate them for stretches was very impressive. They were able to get hot from the perimeter and get a lot of points in transition. I was very impressive with Hayley Smith from canton glen oak a nice post player that is a problem inside. Newark played very well and had a very impressive win over canton glen oak. They were down 17-4 at one point and came back to win by 6. They have some very talented players coming backing including senior gabby stare. Granville also impressed me with solid play as they were able to get points in transition as well as get looks for their stars including cate scheiber. Also saw Watterson play both Newark and Hiland. Watterson showed some flashes of playing great defense but offensively struggled at times to get great looks at the basket. Was also impressed with Hiland they were in midseason form with great ball movement leading to great shots for Morgan Yoder and Zoey Miller. Some great matchups in the shootout allowing teams to see where they are at and where to get better this month.
