Epic battle at Jerome

Epic battle at Jerome by Adrian curry

I tuned in to last night’s game between Jerome and kilbourne. What a game this was. Both teams were red-hot coming into this one as kilbourne had won 4 in a row including Tuesday’s win over Westerville south while Jerome had won 4 of their last 6 including a win on Tuesday night over league-leader Hilliard Darby. This was a game that Jerome dominated thanks to amaris lowery and some timely scoring from her teammates as they jumped out to an early 7-2 lead. Kilbourne was able to battle back but Jerome kept the pressure on and for contributions from Paige welekinski and Lisa kuhlman to lead 14-7 at the end of the first quarter. The 2nd quarter saw continued domination by the Celtics to stretch the lead to 11 at one point. Kilbourne led by their defense and timely scoring by Camille schiffer and Mara mcglone were able to battle back in the game. The wolves were able to gain the lead and closed the half on a 19-8 run to tie the game at 26 at halftime. The 2nd half was nip

And tuck as you can ask for as kilbourne’s defense continued to bother Jerome’s guards and turn them over. The wolves had the biggest lead of the 3rd quarter of 34-30 thanks to mara mcglone and Lauren Scott. Jerome rallied back thanks to amaris lowery and aggressive play late in the 3rd quarter to tie the game at 36 going into the 4th quarter. The 4th quarter had so many twists and turns. Jerome was able to grab an early 3-point lead only to see Lauren Scott retake the lead for kilbourne but then Jerome retook the lead On a couple of free throws by Megan keys. The game was tied at 41 when a key stretch by Amya Harris scoring 5 quick points on a 3-pointer and a steal which led to another layup gave kilbourne their biggest lead of the game 46-41 with less than 2 minutes left. Give Jerome credit they played the foul game and got a kilbourne miss and were able to take advantage and got fouled making 2 free throws. Then after another miss free throw Jerome was able to tie it up on a kadence Conley three. After Jerome made two free throws to tie it up with 6 seconds left, kilbourne had one last possession with Amya Harris driving down the lane and missed the layup by Camille schiffer came in and got the offensive putback basically with no time left. Kilbourne would win the game 50-48. With the win, kilbourne improved to 13-6 while Jerome dropped to 7-10

On the season. Amaris lowery led all scorers with 18 points while Camille schiffer led kilbourne with 13 points.
