Making a Statement

My travels took me to Worthington Kilbourne to take in the Westerville North-Worthington Kilbourne game. The warriors come in as OCC-Capital champs after winning last Friday versus Big Walnut but have struggled losing 4 of their last 7 games including Tuesday nights game versus Dublin Scioto while Kilbourne has been red-hot winning 5 of their last 6 games including a road win over Westerville South on Tuesday night. The wolves would come out fast and blitz the warriors going on a 13-1 run before the warriors knew what hit them. They were able to rally at cut Kilbourne’s lead to 10 at the end of the first quarter. The 2nd quarter was more of the same as Westerville North struggled on offense and could get nothing going while Kilbourne was able to get scoring from OCC-Cardinal player of the year candidate Lauren Scott and she was able to score from everywhere as well as get help from others as the wolves grabbed a 27-14 halftime lead. This continued into the 3rd quarter as Kilbourne continued to play great defense and limited the Warriors to 6 3rd-quarter points as they led 38-20 at the end of the 3rd quarter. The 4th quarter was dominated by the Warriors as they feverishly tried to get back in the game. They got much better play from their guards and Charia Smith as they cut the lead to 8 but Kilbourne closed it out from the free throw line and won the game 44-34. With the win the Wolves improved to 13-6 while Westerville North finishes the regular season 16-5. Lauren Scott led all scorers with 22 points while kayla curry-brown led Westerville north with 12 points
