Mlk day prep shootout day 2

Mlk prep shootout day 2 by Adrian curry

Today I went back out to pickerington central for the final day of the ok prep shootout. Today was a great day of action kicked off by Dublin Coffman vs pick central. The game started out with pick central taking complete control of the first quarter led by the hot-shooting of skye Williams and Madison Greene. They jumped out to a 20-7 first quarter lead. The 2nd quarter seen Coffman try to crawl back in it with their defense and cause turnovers allowing them to get within 8 at the half. Pick central suffocated Coffman in the first half. The 3rd quarter was more of the same as pick central’s defense stymied a potent offense in Coffman while the big three of skye Williams, Jocelyn Tate and Madison Greene led pick central. They had a 35-19 3rd quarter lead but Coffman started and went on a 10-1 run to end the 3rd quarter to cut the lead to 7. Pick central was able to get key baskets to hold off Coffman and led by 10 with 4 more minutes to go but then Coffman went on a 15-0 run fueled by great defense and Jenna Kopyar. They took the lead on a late 3 and never looked back as they won the game 47-42. Jenna Kopyar led all scorers with 23 points while skye Williams led pick central with 12 points. With the comback win Coffman improves to 11-1 while pick central drops to 2-5. The next game was bishop Hartley vs a scrappy Hilliard Davidson tea. Hartley came out flying in the first quarter and grabbed an early 8-2 lead. Davidson fought back behind some easy baskets and 3-point shots made it a close game towards the end of the first half. It was a 3-point Hartley lead late in the first half when kiarra mcelrath banked home a 3-pointer to increase the lead to 6 and gave Hartley all the momentum. This continued in the 3rd quarter as Hartley was able to stretch the lead to 11. Davidson kept fighting and made Hartley have to earn this victory but Hartley was the better and more talented team on this occasion as they won 50-40. Ella brandewie led all scorers with 22 points while bri O’Connor led Davidson with 18 points. With the win Hartley goes to 8-3 while Davidson drops to 4-6. Finally the last game pitted watterson vs Dublin scioto. This was a game that was totally controlled by scioto in the first half as they established karleigh rothe down low and was able to contributions from others as well as they built an early 5-point lead. This continued as they were able to beat watterson’s defense for easy layups and wide open threes. Scioto led at halftime 21-16. The 2nd hal started out more of the same as watterson struggled on offense against scioto’s defense and scioto was able to score timely baskets and led 31-21 at the end of the 3rd quarter. The 4th quarter was dominated by watterson and in particular kilyn McGuff as she heated and willed watterson to come back from the deficit. Trailing by 5 late, she took over and scored 8 of watterson’s last 10 points as part of a 10-0 run to beat scioto 40-35. With the win, watterson improved to 6-3 while scioto drops to 5-3.
