Olentangy shootout by Adrian curry

Olentangy shootout by Adrian Curry

On sunday am and afternoon I went to the olentangy shootout hosted by the lady braves. This shootout had many teams including local teams licking heights, Watkins memorial and upper Arlington. This was one of the last June basketball events of the month. I first watched upper arlington play against warren. Upper arlington is replacing Macy spielman but has two good players in Adrienne wachtman and erskin pippens. Warren jumped out to a good lead in the first half and we able to suffocate upper arlington offensively. The 2nd half upper arlington played much better and were able to get within 5 but warren had enough to hold off upper arlington. Upper arlington. Will go as erskin and Adrienne will take them in order to reach a 3rd straight district final. I also wAtched the game of the day between licking heights and clermont ne. Licking heights is replacing several key players from last season that were looked to be great on both ends. They came out flat early on allowing clermont to seize control early and build an 8 point lead. However licking heights slowly came back and had a 1-point lead at half. The 2nd half went back and forth with clermont ne having a chance to win in regulation but the shot was short. In overtime licking heights did just enough to win with clermont ne against missing opportunities to win the game. The final game I watched was Watkins vs west geauga. This was the most impressive team I saw at the shootout. Watkins was able to press and get turnovers over and over again leading to easy baskets and wide open shots from the perimeter. Was very impressed with their outside shooting especially from the younger sister of Lexi Denison. They were able dominate from the beginning and coasted to an easy win. Watkins is going to be a problem along with Utica, Granville and Newark catholic in the lcl.
