Rivalry on Cooke road

Rivalry on Cooke road by Adrian curry

My travels took me to watterson for the rivalry game between Hartley and watterson. Both teams coming off impressive wins on Monday at the mlk prep shootout at pickerington central. This was a battle for the inside track to the ccl title. The first quarter was a defensive battle between the two teams as they felt each other out. The Hartley post players of kami kortokrax and Ella brandewie were able to establish themselves early and kami hit a three to give Hartley a 13-8 lead at the end of the first quarter. The 2nd quarter was all about Danielle grim who started making shots especially from the perimeter and made easy layups off of Hartley turnovers. She fueled at 14-3 run by watterson to give the eagles at 4-point lead by a late three by Bella Parker allowed Hartley to trail 22-21 at the half. The third quarter was all about the bench for watterson as they got great contributions from Camille Gregory and the continued great play from Danielle grim as they were able to stretch the lead to 37-31 at the end of the 3rd quarter. The hawks made a comeback and were able to get the lead to 41-37 with the ball late but kami kortokrax turned the ball over and watterson sealed it from the line as they won 48-37. With the win watterson improved to 9-2 while Hartley dropped to 8-4 on the season.
