Statement win

Statement win by "Big Shot" & "The ?"

Another good game on paper was undefeated Westerville North and Newark. Newark was coming off their first loss while Westerville North was coming off a road league win over Delaware. Newark came out early and focused on taking Westerville North out of their offense with their dominant full court press. They got scoring from everyone especially Gwen "Big Shot" Stare and Emma "The ?" Shumate and led 18-5 at the end of the 1st quarter. The 2nd quarter was more of the same as the wildcats continued their suffocating defense and limited Westerville North offensively while they had great ball movement. They limited the warriors to only 2 points in the 2nd quarter and led 27-7 at halftime. The 2nd half was more of the dominating style we are use to from this Newark team. Westerville North couldn’t get anything going on offense and struggled to contain Newark. The warriors were able to get going offensively but by that time the game was not in question. This was a dominant statement game by the wildcats over a very hungry and talented Westerville North team. The wildcats won 62-19. Emma "The ?" Shumate led all scorers with 20 points. With the win Newark improves to 17-1 while Westerville North suffers their first loss of the season and drops to 13-1.
